We first met one another in 2012, when we were assigned to the same class in Year 11 (massive thanks to whichever teacher was responsible for that!). We soon found winding up and annoying each other to be REALLY fun, and we quickly became close friends. After enduring an incessant stream of you’ll-be-great-together badgering from our friends all year long, Felix finally asked Jessica out in August 2013.

Then, Felix moved to Singapore in July 2014 and our relationship shifted to a long-distance one. We didn’t know then that this would last for so long, never mind up until our wedding! Meeting each other became even more difficult when Felix moved again to the UK in 2017, especially as PhD-student-Felix and not-yet-a-dentist-Jessica were both too broke to book Jakarta-London flights. Thank God for Whatsapp, Telegram, and Facetime, all of which preserved our collective sanity.

We finally managed to take a proper vacation together in September 2022, in which Felix got down on one knee and popped the question in a beautiful Cambridge chapel. Jessica said yes to sixty more years of driving each other mad, and here we are! We’re still not quite sure how we survived being so far apart for so long, but soon you may see us sharing our secrets as YouTube or TikTok’s latest influencer couple when we tire of our labs and clinics.
